Our guide will greet you at your hotel around 7:30 AM for the hour and a half ride out of Ho Chi Minh City to Cai Lay. Here you will begin the bicycle tour along the region’s tiny canals lined with colorful villages and vibrant fruit gardens. Expect to spot jackfruit, rambutan, durian and other spiky fruits… some of which may seem inedible due to their “stinky” smell! Chat with locals as they sell their fruits & vegetables on the roadside, sample a few local delicacies and explore the ins and outs of everyday life in Cai Lay.
After a 20 km ride there will be a boat trip to Cai Be where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the iconic floating markets (perhaps the most famous in the entire Delta region!) Watch along and snap some photos as wholesale vendors sell their fruit and vegetables from the sides of their boat. We will stop along the way at riverside villages to explore some more local delicacies (coconut candies, popcorn & crispy rice crackers) followed by a locally inspired lunch on the riverside.
That afternoon we will bike around Cai Be and the Upper Mekong region for a bit more “market” sightseeing- a great place to pick up some souvenirs to bring back to the city! We will return later in the afternoon to your hotel in Saigon.
